Why are Bank Exams Lucrative?
In India, banking is one of the fastest growing sectors and is regarded as a sunrise industry. Under its Financial Inclusion scheme, the government is focusing on providing banking facilities in every village and town. Therefore, there are more and more banks opening branches across the country.
Due to the fast growth in the sector, workers at different levels are needed as well. Recruiting occurs primarily at these levels in the banking sector:
A bank probationary officer (PO) holds a managerial position within the institution. A candidate becomes an Assistant Manager (AM) or Deputy Manager (DM) after completing the essential training. Depending on the bank and location of posting, the starting salary of a Bank PO is between Rs.30,000 and Rs.40,000.
In a bank, clerks hold clerical positions, so this can be seen as an entry-level position. Bank clerks usually earn between Rs. 20,000-25,000 per month depending on their branch and posting location.
Specialist Officers (SO): Banks also hire candidates for specialist roles like IT Officer, HR Officer, Marketing Officer, Finance Officer, Law Officer, Agriculture Officer, etc. Usually, the grade and the starting salary of Specialist Officer is in the same range as Probationary Officers.
