Since the country has been subject to extended lockdowns, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has decided to reduce the syllabus for Class 10 and 12 in the year of 2022. ICSE and ISC 2022 will both have new syllabi for English and Indian Languages.
In light of the board’s traditional language emphasis in its curriculum, this is a noteworthy move. CISCE is expected to reduce the number of other subjects on its curriculum as well.
Reduction of CISCE Syllabus for Class 10, 12
- CISCE has revealed that the deduction will also affect other subjects besides English and Indian Languages.
- Consultation of subject experts – The council has emphasized the need to reduce the syllabus only after consultation with subject experts, who will be responsible for ensuring that education quality won’t be compromised at any cost.
- CISCE’s chief executive and secretary, Gerry Arathoon, has released a statement stating there will be no compromise on the quality of the content. He said “CISCE has initiated the process of syllabus review for various subjects at the ICSE and ISC levels specifically for Classes 10 and 12, for the Examination Year 2022, to identify portions of the syllabus which may be reduced, without compromising on the quality of content.”
It is available on the official website of CISCE – www.cisce.org – under the ICSE and ISC tab: Regulations and Syllabuses.
