NMGC approves new projects for rejuvenation of 6 rivers in Uttarakhand

The National Mission for Clean Ganga (in its 36th Executive Committee) approved new projects for the rejuvenation of six rivers in Uttarakhand. The projects shall cover the six polluted river stretches (Bhela, Dhela, Kichha, Nandor, Pilankha, & Kosi) in the Kumaon region. An important and progressive feature of the project is comprehensive sludge management arrangements

International Chess Day is celebrated on July 20

Chess was invented in India in the fifth century. It was then named “Chaturanga”. International Chess Day is celebrated every year as the founding day of FIDE (World Chess Federation). This year will mark FIDE’s 97th anniversary. International Chess Day began as the founding day of the FIDE on the same day July 20 in 1966. Chess is a board game for two players.

Goldman Sachs sets up global centre in Hyderabad

Banking and financial services major Goldman Sachs has opened a new facility in Hyderabad as part of its commitment to expand its global center for engineering and business innovation in India. The new office is expected to have about 800 people by year-end and grow to over 2,500 people by 2023.

First-ever elections of Balika Panchayat successfully held at Kunariya village in Gujarat

The Kunariya village of Kutch district in Gujarat has come out with a unique idea of holding Balika Panchayat. The first-ever elections of this Balika Panchayat were successfully held. That young females aged between 10 to 21 years contested elections for this unique Panchayat which will take up issues pertaining to adolescent girls and women in the village.

Assam Govt To Provide Jobs For All National Games Medalists, Guarantees Sports Pension

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that along with Olympics, Asian, and Commonwealth games medalists, the medal winners in National Games would also get government jobs. All those who won medals in National Games so far for Assam would be given Sports Pension by the State Government. Assam also planning to increase the pension of sportsperson from Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi appointed deputy Leader of House in Rajya Sabha

Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha. Naqvi had served as the minister of state for parliamentary affairs during the first term of the Modi government. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is one of the few leaders in BJP who is believed to have a good working relationship with other political parties.

Kambhampati Haribabu takes oath as Governor of Mizoram

The former BJP state president and former Vizag MP K Haribabu were sworn in as the Governor of Mizoram at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.

The former professor of Andhra University, Kambhampati Hari Babu, was administered the oath of office by Justice Michael Zothankhuma, a judge on behalf of the chief justice of the Gauhati high court.

Maharashtra Govt Implements (LegitDoc) Blockchain Technology To Tackle Issues Related To Fake Education Certificates

The Maharashtra State Skill Development Board recently took an initiative to prevent cases of forged education certificates from being shared among citizens. According to reports, the board has decided to issue a total of 10 lakh digital diploma certificates using blockchain technology. The initiative was recently launched on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day.

Indian Navy receives first two 24 MH-60R helicopters from US

The United States Navy has handed over the first two Sikorsky MH-60R multi-role helicopters to the Indian Navy at Naval Air Station in North Island, San Diego. The Indian Navy is procuring 24 MH-60R Multi-Role Helicopters (MRH) manufactured by Lockheed Martin under foreign military sales from the US government at an estimated cost of $2.4 billion.

Jammu and Kashmir: Govt hosts festival to promote tourism in Gurez Valley

The tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir recently hosted a three-day festival to boost tourism in Gurez Valley in the Bandipora district. Several cultural and traditional programs were performed by different clubs of Gurez during the three-day event. Gurez Valley:- a valley located in the high Himalayas.
